Iglesias coming to Malaysia

Iglesias coming to KL
The master crooner is making a stop here on April 1 as part of his 2010 World Tour

There are few artistes whose music renders women, and even men, misty-eyed, and Julio Iglesias is, without doubt, one of them.

With a career in music spanning over four decades, Iglesias is one of the world’s most popular recording artistes, having sold more than 300 million copies of his albums in 14 languages.

He has 79 albums to his credit and has received more than 2,600 Platinum and Gold record awards – the highest number ever attained by an artiste, according to Billboard Magazine.

Iglesias is also the recipient of the only Diamond Record Award ever given to a performer by the Guinness Book of World Records, for selling more albums in various languages than any other artiste in history.

He is also the only foreign artiste in China’s history to receive the prestigious Golden Record Award.

Iglesias received a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame in 1985. In 1988, he received a Grammy Award and 10 years later, in 1998, he won an American Music Award.

He had performed duets with many internationally famous artistes such as Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Willie Nelson, Diana Ross, Dolly Parton, Art Gurfunkel, Paul Anka, Plácido Domingo, Sting, The Beach Boys and Nana Mouskouri.

A perfectionist at heart, he crafts each song note by note and studies each word until he reaches the effect he wants.

It is rare for someone to put as much passion and feeling into every line of a song as Iglesias does and it is this quality that has endeared him to fans all over the world.

His 2010 World Tour, dubbed A Starry Night with Julio Iglesias, will take him to Malaysia, Australia, South Asia, China, Japan as well as Latin America and European countries. He will be backed by his own live band and dancers.

Iglesias will entertain his fans in Kuala Lumpur on April 1 at 7.30pm at the Plenary Hall, Kuala Lumpur Convention Centre, with 90 minutes of his greatest hits.

Among the perenial favourites are To All the Girls I’ve Loved Before, All of You and Crazy.

Expect a show where love and music is celebrated with a touch of salsa.

"We are delighted to be able to work with such an inspiring and talented artiste and to be able to share his music with fans of all ages in Malaysia," says Para R., the director of PR Worldwide Sdn Bhd, the promoter of the Julio Iglesias’ World Tour in Malaysia.
