Julio Iglesias Will Release NEW Single
“Fallaste Corazón” Tomorrow, July 10th

This Worldwide Release Unveils The First Song From The Global Music Legend’s Forthcoming New Album “MÉXICO - Julio Iglesias”

Marking Julio Iglesias’ First New Spanish Language Recordings in Twelve Years,
The Highly-Anticipated Collection Honoring Mexico’s Greatest Songwriters Will Have A Full Album Release On September 18, 2015

It’s been 12 years since the iconic Julio Iglesias recorded an album in Spanish, his native language. This Friday, July 10, Sony Music releases “Fallaste Corazón” (You Failed, Dear), the first single from his forthcoming album MÉXICO - Julio Iglesias.  Having recorded his first tribute album to Mexico in 1976, the best-selling Latin music artist in history now once again pays homage to a country whose support was instrumental in his rise to fame.

Julio Iglesias first performed in Mexico during the early 1970s and quickly won over the world’s largest Spanish-speaking country. Julio likewise fell in love with the nation and has continually remained well-versed in Mexican culture, history, music and customs.

While putting the finishing touches on MÉXICO - Julio Iglesias, he noted that “Mexico is a country that I love dearly. The Mexican people have given me many indelible moments in my life. I know this country as if it was my homeland, and I always carry it in my soul.

The full album, MEXICO - Julio Iglesias, is scheduled for release on September 18, 2015. In this album, Julio Iglesias renews his ties to Mexico with material from its Golden Age songbook, performed with his inimitable passion. An homage to Mexico’s greatest songwriters, the album will include twelve songs with distinctive Mexican flavor, Julio’s timeless interpretations and a 21st century sound.

Mexican music is universal, and its composers are legendary,” Julio Iglesias observes. The album will feature a moving dedication to these songwriters, written by the artist himself.

This record is dedicated to the outstanding composers who, generation after generation, filled our lives with love, nostalgia, memories and moments. After all these years, they remain alive in our souls. With all my respect and profound admiration." – Julio Iglesias.

With this album, Julio Iglesias’ discography surpasses 80 albums since 1968, a sterling body of work. A total of 47 years of hits and record-setting accomplishments – with over 300 million records sold – solidifying Julio as the best-selling Latino artist in history, and one of the Top-10 best-selling music artists of all-time.

MEXICO - Julio Iglesias is a return to fundamentals for an artist who has sung in over 12 languages and won a multitude of accolades around the world. Now,  Julio Iglesias ends his long absence from recording, by again embracing his beloved Mexico and its classic songwriters.

Billboard Article on "Fallaste Corazón"

Julio Iglesias Is Back With First Spanish Single in 12 Years, 'Fallaste Corazón':

The nostalgia sentiment has really paid off for many artists recently, whether it’s releasing an album of their own hits with a new spin, (á la Juan Gabriel with Los Dúo), or paying tribute to the classics of others (a la Cristian Castro with his three albums in homage to José José).

Now Julio Iglesias, also known as the most successful Latin singer of all time, is entering the nostalgia business with his upcoming album, Mexico – Julio Iglesias, in which he’ll interpret 12 standards from the country’s golden-era songbook.

For his first single, Iglesias offers up “Fallaste Corazón” (You Failed, Dear), by the prolific Mexican songwriter Cuco Sánchez. Many icons have done their own interpretation of the classic, including Rocio Durcal and Pedro Infante. Here, Iglesias reclaims his title as the world's smoothest balladeer.

Iglesias’ forthcoming album, due Sept. 18, is his first Spanish-language recording in 12 years. The Madrid-born crooner first performed in Mexico in the ‘70s, conquering the largest Spanish-speaking market and then going on to sell more than 300 million records worldwide by recording in as many as 12 languages. Still, Mexico holds a special place in his heart. In fact, this is his second tribute album to a country that was instrumental to his career, the first of which came in 1976.

“Mexico is a country that I love dearly,” said Iglesias in a statement. “The Mexican people have given me many indelible moments in my life. I know this country as if it was my homeland, and I always carry it in my soul. This record is dedicated to the outstanding composers who, generation after generation, filled our lives with love, nostalgia, memories and moments. After all these years, they remain alive in our souls.”

Barbara Rush

Last week Julio lost a loyal fan with the passing of Barbara Rush.  I first met Barbara back in the late 90's when I was just beginning my traveling to see Julio.  She welcomed me into the world of Julio and always had a smile on her face and a great story to share.  From there, I would see her annually at the Julio-America birthday luncheon in New York where you could see her glow from the excitement and the "passion" she had towards Julio and his music.  I will miss Barbara and will remember all the great times I had with her.

Rest In Peace Barbara,

Rory

Julio named "Madrid's Favorite Son"

Madrid, Feb 20 (EFE).- Spanish crooner Julio Iglesias on Friday was named a "Favorite Son of Madrid" in honor of his "brilliant, internationally recognized, meritorious career" and for being a "universal Spaniard" born in the Spanish capital.

Madrid Mayor Ana Botella's nomination of the singer did not receive unanimous support from the City Council, unlike the last Spaniard to receive the title, opera star Placido Domingo, in 2012.

But the delegate of Arts, Sport and Tourism, Pedro Corral, said there is no doubting the talent on which Iglesias achieved his popular following or his willingness in public to boost the city in which he was born on Sep. 23, 1943.

A date for Iglesias to receive the title has not been announced, but a ceremony is expected to take place sometime in March or April, officials told Efe.

The Favorite Son of Madrid title is awarded by the mayor to people born in Madrid for their outstanding qualities or merit, and their services in improving and honoring the city.
Throughout his career, Julio Iglesias has shared the stage with celebrities such as Barbara Streisand, Frank Sinatra, Stevie Wonder, Diana Ross, Placido Domingo, Charles Aznavour and Sting, among others.

Since debuting as a performer at age 24, Iglesias has sold more than 300 million records, recorded 79 albums during his career, and performed at 5,000 concerts attracting more than 60 million people worldwide.
