The Spanish singer Julio Iglesias talked with the president of Haiti, Rene Preval, during a visit to the country devastated by a powerful earthquake which has left hundreds of thousands of families homeless and without provisions. Iglesias joins the group of international figures who have lent their support to the recovery of Haiti, and who have been concerned about speeding up international aid efforts.
It is estimated that some 600,000 people in Port-au-Prince lack shelter, the United Nations reported.
